MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI) Fall 2021 High School Program

 This course is an introduction for females attending high school in grade 11 interested in learning how to program autonomous cars, hack and code, design, build and fly model aircraft, and more!
**Dates and Times: Saturdays 11AM-2PM EST - 10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11 2021.

Micro Servos

Small motors primarily used for steering radio-controlled vehicles. They are also useful for robotics and animatronics.


Accelerometers

Accelerometers measure linear acceleration due to gravity. They can be used to detect motion as well as orientation.


GPS

GPS sensors are receivers with antennas that use a satellite-based navigation system to provide position, velocity, and timing information.


Ultrasonic Distance Sensors

An ultrasonic sensor measures the distance to an object using ultrasonic sound waves. A transducer sends and receive pulses that relay back information about an object's proximity.


Flight Controller

The flight controller is the low level device that operates the hardware. It is what allows the drone to self level itself hundreds of times a second.


Additional Sensors

UAV sensors also include Inertial measurement units, which fuse together information from different sensors such as gyroscopes, accelerometers and magnetometers.
